Overview

The Director of Engineering is responsible for leading the engineering group.  S/He must be able manage a team and budgets, have strong technical skills and be capable of setting direction for the group, must be progressive with a strong interest in innovation.

Duties

  • Manage all engineering personnel
  • Develop plan for obtaining engineering only revenue, including PSM
  • Perform site inspections and quality reviews
  • Assist service and field installation teams with technical support
  • Develop engineering proposals and estimates

Delegation of tasks

  • Detailed design
  • CAD
  • 3D modeling
  • Document control
  • Return submittals per schedule
  • Respond to RFIs in timely fashion

Standardization

  • Comply with documented company standards
  • Maintain consistency across deliverables
  • Manage the overall development and maintenance of design deliverables and tools
  • Maintain awareness of codes and updates

Accountability

  • Proactively manage engineering staffing levels to meet business needs
  • Design project quality
  • Design project budget
  • Design project schedule
  • Compliance with Clauger, customer and code standards

Responsibility

  • Completion or delegation of all engineering deliverables
  • Maintain meeting notes, including decision and hold logs
  • Coordinate with all trades to eliminate clashes

Coordination

  • Maintain overall project status report and communicate internally
  • Participate in staff meetings as required
  • Coordinate internally to prioritize company needs

  • Exceed $2.5M in design revenue
  • Exceed customer and company quality expectations
  • Exceed 95% accuracy on design deliverables
  • Exceed 95% on time deliverables
  • Exceed group financial goals
  • Develop and maintain engineering policies to limit turnover and promote employee growth

Work Environment

This position is office based with active job sites and manufacturing facilities.  Must comply with Clauger, OSHA, and site safety rules and PPE requirements. We anticipate 20% travel time.

Required Education, Experience, and/or Licenses

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • 10 years+ of experience in industrial refrigeration
  • Professional Engineer license
